International Society of Surgery (ISS/SIC)

The International Society of Surgery (ISS) / Société Internationale de Chirurgie (SIC) is a global not-for-profit membership organization, founded in 1902 in Belgium, would like to function with two aims in mind: on the one hand it wants to function as a very benevolent "umbrella organization" to keep the "house of surgery" together for all problems of general interest to all surgical specialties, on the other hand, the ISS/SIC has also a vital interest in upkeeping general surgery as an important training base. World Congress of Surgery (WCS)

 

The World Congress of Surgery (formerly International Surgical Week ISW) is held every two years in collaboration with its Integrated Societies, Participating Societies and National Societies of the host country. The congress is devoted to the discussion of surgical standards, classification and the latest research in general surgery. Both engaging and insightful, WCS is unlike any other meeting. It is an excellent scientific event in the field of surgery that brings togethter the wolrd's leading experts.

Through the efforts of hundreds of specialists the WCS is a vivid platform of scientific and clinical working groups that lay the foundation for future breakthroughs. The program will include plenary sessions, state-of-the-art lectures, posters, oral and video presentations.

Venue

​

The ICE Kraków Congress Centre is the business and cultural flagship of the city. Located in the very heart of Kraków, it is a convenient place for the organisation of diverse events. The congress centre is surrounded by a special traffic system encompassing ground-level parking lots, a bus bay, bicycle parking areas, as well as a two-level underground parking lot for 336 vehicles. The nearest bus and tram stop is located only 50 meters away from the entrance, with 5 tram lines and 20 bus lines providing access to the facility. Travelling from the airport takes about 20 minutes, and it takes only about a quarter of an hour to get to the ICE Kraków from the central railway and bus station.

Coffee and tea is available in the Exhibition areas (F1 Level Foyer & F2 Level Foyer) Other refreshments and snacks can be purchased at the coffee corners also located in the Exhibition areas (F1 Level Foyer & F2 Level Foyer).

No lunches are served. Cash bars will be available in the Exhibition areas (F1 Level Foyer & F2 Level Foyer).

Business Attire is recommended in the scientific sessions.

The official language is English. Please note that some sessions of the ISS/SIC and ISDS (Plenary Hall) will be translated into Polish.

Photographing, audio taping, video recording, digital taping or any other form of recording for commercial use is strictly prohibited in the session rooms and poster areas.

Smoking is prohibited at the congress venue. Smoking is allowed only at designated areas outside the ICE Kraków Congress Centre.
